UNH and Jambi City General Elections Commission Forge Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Youth Democratic Literacy

Nurdin Hamzah University (UNH) and the Jambi City General Elections Commission (KPU) officially strengthened their institutional partnership by signing a Cooperation Agreement. The ceremony was held at Building B of the UNH Faculty of Computer Science on Thursday, June 18, 2026, demonstrating both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing political education and democratic literacy in society.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of the Jambi City KPU, Deni Rahmat, S.Sos., and his delegation. Representing UNH were its Rector, Dr. Samsuddin, S.Sos., M.I.P., and members of the university’s leadership. The participation of representatives from both institutions reflected their commitment to establishing sustainable collaboration between higher education and the election management body.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNH emphasized that political education for young people plays an essential role in building a healthy democratic society. Appropriate political education is expected to encourage intelligent, critical, and responsible political awareness and participation while preparing future leaders who possess integrity.

The Rector also expressed his hope that this partnership would enable Jambi City to become a model for other cities and regencies in strengthening political and democratic education. The collaboration is expected to include electoral education, research, community engagement, seminars, public outreach, and other academic activities designed to improve democratic literacy, particularly among younger generations.

Through this Cooperation Agreement, UNH and the Jambi City KPU are committed to implementing programs that provide tangible benefits to both institutions and the wider community. The partnership is expected to deepen public understanding of democracy and encourage active, ethical, and responsible political participation.
